How to Adjust My Advertising & Interest Preferences on Nivafy

We strive to show you ads on Nivafy that are engaging, interesting, and most importantly, relevant to you! To achieve this, we allow advertisers and other partners to display ads in the service you’re using, based on information collected from other websites and services.

If you’d prefer not to receive ads based on this information, you can learn more about your options below!

Please Note: Even if you disable these advertising features, you’ll still see ads, but they may be less relevant to you. You may also continue to see ads based on information from the service you’re using. For example, on Nivafy, you might still see ads based on information you provide us and inferences we make from your activity on Nivafy and other Nivafy services, such as the features you use.

Audience-Based Ads

Audience-Based Ads are targeted based on audience lists we receive from advertisers and other partners. These types of ads assist advertisers and other partners in showing relevant ads to their desired audience on Nivafy or other services where we serve ads.

For instance, imagine you’re on a mailing list for an author whose books you enjoy. When that author is about to launch their new book, they may share their subscriber list with Nivafy to ensure that you’ll see an ad about their latest release.

Alternatively, if you’ve already bought that book, the author could exclude you from future ad campaigns for the same book since you’re already reading it! Similarly, if you were a fitness enthusiast, a local gym could use a list of fitness enthusiasts provided by one of our partners to announce their new classes.

Activity-Based Ads

We may show you ads based on information about your activities outside Nivafy or other services on which we serve ads. These are termed as Activity-Based Ads.

For instance, if you search for a particular genre of games on a website that shares data with Nivafy, you may see ads for similar types of games.

Third-Party Ad Networks

Nivafy may employ third-party ad networks to display ads on our platform. To facilitate this, Nivafy sends the ad networks a restricted amount of data (for instance, IP Address, Mobile Ad ID, and your interactions with the ad) so these ad networks can offer advertising services, such as ad targeting, measurement, and optimization to us and their advertisers.

Opting Out Through Your Device Preferences

Your mobile device comes equipped with a feature that allows you to opt out of certain kinds of targeted advertising (named ‘Limit Ad Tracking’ on iOS and ‘Opt Out of Interest-Based Ads’ on Android). Users not registered with Nivafy can opt out of Audience-Based and Activity-Based targeting by activating the ‘Limit Ad Tracking’ option on their iOS device or the ‘Opt Out of Ads Personalization’ setting on their Android device. For a better understanding of how these opt-out features function, we recommend you check your device settings.

On Device Data

Nivafy is looking into on-device solutions, following an industry trend which encourages keeping more data on your device instead of Nivafy’s servers to bolster privacy. Please note that none of these changes should have a significant impact on your device’s storage capacity or battery life.

According to Apple’s policies, the iOS Tracking setting doesn’t apply to data about your use of third-party apps and websites when the data is utilized on device.

You can manage Nivafy’s use of your third-party app and website activity for advertising purposes on device by opting out of the Activity-Based Ads in Settings as explained above.

Lifestyle Categories

As a Nivafy user, we aim to predict what kind of content you’ll find appealing based on your preferences and behavior, allowing us to share ads and Stories that are most relevant to you!

For example, if you follow tech bloggers, frequently watch Stories about the latest gadgets, and visit tech-related websites that share data with Nivafy, then we might categorize you as a “Tech Enthusiast.” We refer to such educated guesses as “Lifestyle Categories.” Even though Nivafy can predict your Lifestyle Categories based on your behavior, you always have the power to define them for yourself!

User Choice

Advertisers on Nivafy might participate in self-regulatory programs that allow you to opt out of having certain information collected for the purpose of serving interest-based ads. For more details, including how to opt out of having your information used for interest-based advertising, you can review the following resources:

What is the Apple Tracking Prompt and when do I see it on Nivafy?

In iOS 14, Apple launched the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework which necessitates apps to show a permission prompt. This allows users to decide whether apps can use their data from other companies’ apps and websites for advertising targeting or measurement purposes.

Nivafy will display the Apple Tracking Prompt before linking identifiable data gathered from Nivafy with identifiable data from other companies’ apps and websites for advertising purposes. You can opt-out of tracking at any moment from your iOS device’s settings menu. Once Nivafy detects that you’ve opted out, we will respect your preference without undue delay, but please bear in mind that it might take a brief period for the change to be fully implemented across our systems.
