Overview
Ensuring the veracity and integrity of information on our platform is a primary concern at Nivafy. We understand that deceptive practices and false information can erode user trust and pose serious risks to the wellbeing and safety of our community. Our policies aim to mitigate the dissemination of misinformation, protect users from fraud and spam, and maintain a reliable and trustworthy environment.
What you should expect
Our Community Guidelines relating to Harmful False or Deceptive Information encompass two primary areas of concern: 1. false information and 2. fraudulent or spammy behavior.
- False Information
Content that distorts the truth can have serious and harmful repercussions for individuals and society as a whole. We acknowledge the challenges of discerning fact from fiction, particularly with regard to fast-evolving events or complex topics such as health, science, and global affairs. Hence, our policies focus not only on the accuracy of the information but also on its potential for harm.
Several categories of information are particularly susceptible to harmful misrepresentation. In these areas, our teams act against content that is misleading or incorrect, regardless of whether the inaccuracies are intentional or not. In this regard, our policies guard against all forms of information threats, including misinformation, disinformation, malformation, and manipulated media.
Examples of information categories that we view as particularly vulnerable to harm include the following:
- Content that denies the existence of tragic events. We prohibit content that disputes, for example, the Holocaust, or denies the events of school shootings. Unfounded conspiracy theories or misrepresentations about such tragedies can incite violence and hatred, in addition to causing harm to individuals whose lives and families have been affected by these events.
- Content that promotes unsubstantiated medical claims. We disallow content that, for example, endorses unproven therapies for preventing the spread of diseases like COVID-19; or that propagates unfounded conspiracy theories about vaccines. While the field of medicine is dynamic, and public health advice may change over time, we look to reputable organizations to provide reliable health and medical guidance.
- Content that undermines the integrity of civic processes. Elections and other civic processes are vital to the functioning of democratic societies and can also be vulnerable to information manipulation. To protect the information environment around such events, we enforce our policies against:
- Procedural interference: misinformation related to the actual civic or electoral procedures, such as misrepresenting critical dates, times, or eligibility requirements for participation.
- Participation interference: content that intimidates personal safety or disseminates rumors to discourage participation in the electoral or civic process.
- Fraudulent or unlawful participation: content that encourages people to misrepresent themselves to participate in the civic process or to illegally cast or destroy ballots.
- Delegitimization of civic processes: content aiming to delegitimize democratic institutions based on false or misleading claims about election results.
Our policies against harmful false information are reinforced by extensive product design safeguards and advertising rules that limit virality, promote transparency, and champion authenticity across our platform
- Fraudulent or Spammy Behavior
Fraud and spam can cause significant financial harm to our users, expose them to cybersecurity threats, and potentially lead to legal consequences (besides being simply bothersome and irritating). In order to mitigate these risks, we strictly prohibit any deceptive practices that could undermine trust within our community.
Prohibited practices include content that promotes get-rich-quick schemes; unauthorized or undisclosed paid content; and the promotion of fraudulent goods or services, including counterfeit items, documents, or certificates. We also prohibit promotions for acquiring followers, or other follower-growth schemes; the promotion of spam applications; and the promotion of multilevel marketing or pyramid schemes.
Lastly, our policies firmly disallow pretending to be someone (or something) that you’re not, or attempting to deceive people about who you are. This includes impersonating friends, celebrities, brands, or other organizations. As such, it’s not acceptable to imitate Nivafy or any of its related brands.
How we enforce these policies
Content that violates our rules against Harmful False or Deceptive Information is removed. Users who share, promote, or distribute content in violation of these policies will be notified of the violation, and users who continue to violate these policies will have their account access restricted.
Please do report if you or someone else is being impersonated, or if you encounter spam or misinformation. Once we receive a report, our Trust & Safety teams can take the necessary action to rectify the impersonation or prevent the persistence of harmful content.
On our high-reach platforms, like Realize Dream and Discover, we are proactive in moderating content and promoting information integrity. However, we greatly appreciate your feedback and reports concerning any harmful content you might encounter on these platforms, as they help us identify any shortcomings in our processes for keeping these spaces free of harmful information.
Conclusion
Promoting a responsible information environment remains a high priority across our company, and we will continue to explore innovative approaches to protect Nivafy users from the risks of Harmful False or Deceptive Content.
We are dedicated to continually refining our policies to improve our ability to address harmful content or behavior, and we are committed to working with leaders from across the safety community to ensure we are advancing these objectives responsibly.
