Content Moderation

Nivafy is engineered with a strong emphasis on safety, pivotal in curbing the proliferation of harmful content. Unlike platforms with open news feeds, Nivafy does not allow unchecked publishers or individuals to disseminate hate, misinformation, or violent content.

Our moderation strategy includes a mix of automated tools and human oversight to regulate our public content areas. This dual approach combines machine learning algorithms and dedicates human teams to scrutinize content for appropriateness.

For instance, in sections dedicated to user submissions, content initially undergoes an AI review process before gaining any exposure. As content attracts more views, human moderators’ step in to review it further, ensuring it aligns with our community standards before it reaches a wider audience. This method effectively reduces the spread of misinformation, hate speech, and other harmful content, contributing to a positive and safe user experience.

Editorial content from media partners, such as featured stories or shows, adheres to stringent content guidelines. These guidelines prohibit the dissemination of misinformation, hate speech, conspiracy theories, violence, and other harmful content categories, maintaining high standards of safety and integrity. We also implement proactive harm-detection technologies and keyword filtering across other public or highly visible platforms to identify and mitigate harmful content, including illegal activities.

Users play a crucial role in our moderation ecosystem. Anyone can report accounts or content that may violate our Community Guidelines. Reports are confidentially submitted to our Safety team, who are trained to assess, take necessary actions based on our policies. Policy Enforcement at Nivafy

At Nivafy, maintaining consistent and fair enforcement of our policies is paramount. We take into account various factors when determining penalties for violations of our Community Guidelines, with the severity of the harm and the user’s history of previous violations being the most crucial.

We use a risk-based approach to discern between the most severe harms and other types of violations. For detailed information about our handling of severe harms and the kinds of violations that fall under this category, we have established a dedicated resource center.

Accounts that are primarily used to violate our Community Guidelines or to engage in serious harms will be immediately disabled. This includes accounts involved in serious bullying or harassment, impersonation, fraud, promoting extremist or terrorist activities, or any illegal activity using Nivafy.

For other violations of our Community Guidelines, Nivafy employs a structured three-step enforcement process:

  • Content Removal: Initially, the content in violation is removed from our platform.
  • Notification: The user receives a notification explaining that they have violated our Community Guidelines, informing them of the content removal, and warning that repeated violations will lead to further enforcement actions, including potential account disablement.
  • Strike Record: Our team then records a strike against the user’s account.

Each strike is documented and communicated to the user. Accumulating too many strikes within a specified period will result in the disabling of the user’s account. This strike system ensures that our policies are applied uniformly, offering both caution and education to users who breach our Community Guidelines. Our overarching aim is to ensure that Nivafy remains a platform where everyone can engage in a manner that aligns with our values and mission. This enforcement framework is crafted to support this goal effectively across our wide user base.

Notice and Appeals Processes at Nivafy

To promote transparency and fairness, Nivafy has established clear Notice and Appeals processes. These are designed to ensure that our users understand the reasons behind any actions taken against their accounts and provide them with an opportunity to contest these decisions, safeguarding their rights and the interests of our community.

When evaluating enforcement actions, we adhere to our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. These standards guide us in determining appropriate penalties for account violations and in moderating content across various Nivafy platforms.

In instances where an appeal against an account lock is successful, access to the user’s account will be promptly restored. Regardless of the outcome, we commit to notifying the appealing party of our decision in a timely manner. This approach ensures that users are well-informed about the status of their appeals and the reasoning behind our final decisions.
