The European Digital Services Act (DSA) is a recently introduced regulation within the European Union (EU) designed to govern a range of online services. This encompasses social media platforms, online marketplaces, search engines, as well as very large online platforms (VLOPs) and very large online search engines (VLOSEs).
The DSA has several key objectives:

- Strengthening Reporting of Illegal Content: The DSA intends to simplify the process of reporting and removing illegal content from online platforms, thus contributing to a safer online environment.
- Protection of Minors: There is a specific focus on safeguarding minors between the ages of 13 and 17 from targeted advertising practices, enhancing their online privacy and safety.

The European Digital Services Act (DSA) ushers in a new era of regulations, focusing on platforms with substantial societal influence, namely VLOPs and VLOSEs. Nivafy, is wholeheartedly committed to fulfilling our DSA obligations by the set deadline of February 17th, 2024. To meet these commitments, we are introducing several enhancements tailored for our EU users:
Enhanced User Content Control:
We understand that Nivafy, want greater control over the content they encounter. While Nivafy, is primarily a visual and marketplace platform, we offer public content through features like Journeys and Nivafy TV. This content is personalized for each viewer, ensuring a relevant experience. To align with DSA requirements, all EU users will gain the ability to comprehend why they are shown specific content and opt out of personalized content experiences in Journeys and Nivafy TV. Notification and Appeals Process for Content Removal:
Upholding our community guidelines is of utmost importance. Users can effortlessly report content or accounts that they believe violate these guidelines using our reporting tools. To enhance transparency, Nivafy, will now notify users about the reasons for content or account removals, allowing for easy appeals. These features are available to our global users. As part of our DSA compliance efforts, we are integrating with the European Commission’s Transparency API, providing information about enforcement decisions related to EU-based accounts or content.
Updates to Advertising:
In response to DSA requirements, we are implementing various updates to advertising for EU and UK Nivafy Residents, including:
- Restricting personalized advertising to Nivafy residence aged 13 – 17 in the EU and UK.
- Offering EU Nivafy residence aged 18+ increased advertising transparency and control.
- Establishing a digital library for EU targeted advertisements, enhancing transparency.

Nivafy DSA Compliance & Transparency Statement

In accordance with the European Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), Nivafy provides the following additional transparency information for users in the European Union and the European Economic Area.
1. Designated Contact Point (Article 11 & 12 DSA)

2. Notice and Action Mechanism (Article 16)
EU users can report illegal content or potential violations of EU law or our Community Guidelines directly via Nivafy’s in-platform reporting tools or through our Legal Request Form.
Each valid notice is reviewed by our moderation specialists.
When appropriate, we will:

Remove or restrict the reported content;

Notify the content creator with the reason and the possibility to appeal.
We maintain internal records of all notices received and actions taken as required under Article 17 DSA.
3. Appeals and Complaint Handling (Article 20)
If your content or account has been restricted or removed, you may appeal the decision directly from the notification panel in your account or by contacting [email protected].
Our moderation team reviews appeals promptly and communicates decisions, generally within 30 days.
4. Transparency Reports (Article 15 & 42)
Transparency Reporting (Articles 15 & 42 DSA)
Nivafy is currently operating in Beta and does not yet serve paid advertisements or operate at the scale requiring formal transparency reporting under Articles 15 or 42 of the DSA.
Once advertising features and large-scale user operations become active, Nivafy will begin publishing biannual Transparency Reports detailing content moderation actions, appeals, and advertising transparency metrics.
A placeholder Transparency Report page will be published prior to public launch to outline our future methodology and reporting schedule.
5. Content Moderation Technology Disclosure
We use a combination of:

Automated detection tools for spam, explicit content, and fraud patterns; and

Human review by trained moderators.
Automation supports efficiency but no final removal decision is made solely by AI; human oversight is always applied.
6. Advertising Transparency (Article 26 & 39)
All paid advertisements shown to EU users are clearly marked as “Sponsored.”
EU users aged 13–17 do not receive targeted ads based on personal profiling.
For adults, ad targeting is limited to high-level categories (e.g., art, gaming, fashion) and users can adjust their ad-preference settings in the app.
